Environmental policy
Australian Hearing's environmental policy focuses on reducing the use of energy and resources with a particular focus on:
- Increasing the levels of recycling
- Decreasing electricity use by introducing reflective blinds to reduce radiated heat and decrease loading on air conditioners
- Promoting double sided and multi-page printing
- Increasing to 53% of the vehicle fleet to meet Green Vehicle Guide rating targets
- Requiring the use of ethanol (E-10) fuel in government vehicles where it is available
- Promoting videoconferencing as an alternative to air and road travel.
- Reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill
- Responsible use of water
- Replacement of incandescent lighting with more energy efficient alternatives
- Responsible procurement practices. Most notably the tender for supply of zinc air and alkaline batteries for hearing aids that are considered non-hazardous and safe for disposal in the normal municipal waste stream
