Australian Hearing has won Silver at the Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA) for their 2006-2007 annual report; successfully addressing rigorous ARA criteria for best practice in reporting.
Winning in the General Category for the public sector report, Australian Hearing was presented with its award at a black tie presentation dinner last night.
The silver award recognises reports that provide quality coverage of specific ARA criteria, satisfactory disclosure of key aspects of its business and outstanding disclosure in at least one major area.
Senator Joe Ludwig, Minister for Human Services, said it was very important for Australian Hearing to be acknowledged for the clarity of its reporting.
"It is vital that government agencies show themselves to be accountable and give a transparent representation of annual performance for all their stakeholders. This award is recognition of that," Sen Ludwig said.
Australian Hearing Managing Director Anthea Green, finalist of the Telstra Business Women's Award in 2007, said she was extremely pleased that Australian Hearing's reporting excellence had been recognised in this way.
"Australian Hearing is the only hearing service provider in the country that is required to produce an annual report. I am proud of the difference that Australian Hearing makes in the community, and the importance placed on publicly communicating that role," she said.
The ARA was established to improve the standards of reporting in Australia. The awards recognise excellence in reporting and provide entrants with an opportunity to receive constructive feedback from an expert adjudicator.
