Hearing is vital to everyday living, yet most Australians still wait seven to ten years before taking action on their hearing loss. We want to tackle this issue head-on and encourage the nation to make hearing a priority, and our mission during Hearing Awareness Week is to make it fun and easy for people to participate.
That’s why we’re once again holding the Big Aussie Hearing Check. For one week, Australian Hearing teams will host hundreds of events all over the country to offer free hearing checks at over 500 locations.
This year, our theme is sport and our call to action is “Be a good sport and get your hearing checked.” We’re focusing on the community appeal of sport in the lead up to football finals season. Australian Hearing’s teams across the nation will encourage people to ‘enjoy the game’ whether they play, attend a match, or watch their favourite sport on TV by raising awareness of hearing issues in the community.
The Big Aussie Hearing Check is our way of celebrating Hearing Awareness Week (20 – 26 August 2017), which is an initiative of the Deafness Foundation.
To help make the Big Aussie Hearing Check event a real success, we’d love to see you at your nearest hearing checkpoint for a free, five-minute check or a chat with one of our friendly hearing specialists.
