1. About HearSmart
The Hearing Australia HearSmart is a voluntary, secure online client portal and self service platform provided by Hearing Australia to support its existing clients in managing information relating to their hearing care and interacting with Hearing Australia’s services.
Through HearSmart, eligible clients, or their authorised representative, may be able to:
- Access services securely online
- View and update personal and contact information (where enabled)
- View upcoming appointments and manage bookings (including rescheduling or cancelling where available)
- View hearing device information and order batteries
- View summaries of hearing assessments
- View and download select invoices, documents and account information.
2. Using HearSmart
HearSmart is intended to improve convenience and support digital service delivery by providing access to certain client information and documents held by Hearing Australia. Information made available through HearSmart is provided for general informational and administrative purposes only, and Hearing Australia determines, at its discretion, which information and documents are available through the portal.
Where permitted, access to a client’s HearSmart account may also be provided to a client’s authorised representative, in accordance with Hearing Australia’s processes.
HearSmart is a digital access and communication tool only and does not replace clinical consultations, professional hearing health advice, or Hearing Australia’s clinical services. You should discuss any information displayed in HearSmart with your hearing health professional where appropriate.
By accessing or using HearSmart, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. Hearing Australia grants you a limited, non exclusive, revocable licence to access and use HearSmart for your personal use, or where applicable, as the client’s authorised representative, subject to these Terms.
3. Accuracy of Information
Hearing Australia takes reasonable steps to ensure information available through HearSmart is accurate and up to date. Some information may not be real time and may rely on information provided by you or generated through Hearing Australia’s systems.
Some information available through HearSmart may be view only and cannot be changed through the portal. If information is incomplete, incorrect or subject to processing delays, some features or information may be limited or unavailable. Whilst you may have the ability to update some of your personal information displayed on HearSmart, some fields may be locked. If you believe any information is incorrect or requires updating, you should contact Hearing Australia.
4. Client Responsibilities
By using HearSmart, you agree to:
- keep your login credentials confidential and secure;
- take reasonable steps to prevent unauthorised access to your account and any device used to access HearSmart;
- ensure the information you provide is accurate and up to date; and
- use HearSmart only for its intended and lawful purposes.
You must not share your username, password or verification codes with any other person, except where Hearing Australia has approved authorised representative access.
You are responsible for all activity conducted through your account and for any loss or damage arising from your failure to keep your credentials or devices secure, unless and until you notify Hearing Australia of suspected unauthorised access or request that your access be deactivated. You must notify Hearing Australia as soon as practicable if you suspect unauthorised access to your account or a compromise of your credentials.
You must not use HearSmart in a way that is unlawful or misleading, interferes with or compromises the security or operation of HearSmart, attempts to gain unauthorised access to systems or information, or causes harm to Hearing Australia, other users, or third parties.
5. Privacy and Personal Information
Use of HearSmart involves the handling of personal information, including sensitive information.
Hearing Australia manages personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy, which explains how information is collected, used, stored, and disclosed, and how individuals may access or seek correction of their information or make a privacy complaint.

6. Security and Online Risks
Hearing Australia takes reasonable steps to protect the security of HearSmart and the information accessed through it. Access may involve additional verification steps, and you may be required to change your password from time to time.
You acknowledge that no online system is completely secure and that there is a risk of unauthorised access, interference or loss. You are responsible for taking reasonable steps to secure any device used to access HearSmart.
7. Availability and Changes
Hearing Australia may modify, suspend or discontinue HearSmart, or any feature of HearSmart, at any time, including for maintenance or technical reasons.
Hearing Australia may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Continued use of HearSmart after publication of updated terms constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
8. Account Eligibility, Suspension and Closure
Access to HearSmart is available to eligible clients, as determined by Hearing Australia, and may be withdrawn if you are no longer eligible or no longer receive relevant services.
Hearing Australia may suspend or disable access where reasonably necessary to protect security, client information, system integrity, or to comply with legal or regulatory obligations. Where practicable, reasonable steps will be taken to notify you.
You may request closure of your HearSmart account by contacting Hearing Australia.
9. Third-Party Services and Links
HearSmart may include links to third party websites or services. Hearing Australia does not control and is not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability, privacy practices or services of third parties. You access third party sites at your own risk.
10. Warranties, Liability and Indemnity
Hearing Australia takes reasonable steps to protect the security of HearSmart and the information accessed through it. However, Hearing Australia does not warrant that HearSmart will be free from security vulnerabilities or unauthorised access, and is not liable for loss or damage arising from a security incident, system outage, maintenance, or other factors beyond Hearing Australia’s reasonable control.
These limitations do not apply to loss or damage arising from Hearing Australia’s failure to comply with applicable legal obligations.
Nothing in these Terms of Use excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
11. General
- These Terms of Use relate only to access to and use of HearSmart and do not limit or affect Hearing Australia’s obligations in relation to the provision of hearing services or healthcare.
- If you have a query or complaint about HearSmart or these Terms of Use, you should first contact Hearing Australia so that the matter can be addressed as quickly as possible.
- Nothing in these Terms of Use limits your right to seek external review or to make a complaint to a regulator where applicable.
- If any provision of these Terms of Use is invalid or unenforceable, it will be severed and the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
- A failure or delay by Hearing Australia to exercise a right does not operate as a waiver of that right.
- You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms. Hearing Australia may transfer or novate these Terms where permitted by law.
- These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of New South Wales. Each party submits to the non exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
