If you’ve had a 15-minute adult hearing check already

If you’ve had your hearing check already and it’s shown you may have hearing loss, the next step is booking an appointment for a comprehensive hearing assessment with one of our expert clinicians at one of our 180+ hearing centres located nationally. In your appointment, our clinician will do a thorough assessment to determine the degree of your hearing loss and recommend hearing aids if required. They’ll support you in making your decision, tailoring the solution to your needs and lifestyle. If you decide to proceed with hearing aids, they’ll arrange to fit you with a fully subsidised hearing aid at $0* cost to you.

If you prefer a hearing aid that has more advanced technology

No problem! If you’d like to purchase a hearing aid that has more advanced technology such as better adjusting in noisy environments or more natural sound, these options will be partially subsidised for you if you’re eligible under the Program. This means you’ll be able to purchase them at a lower price.

Try our hearing aids for 14 days free^ before you buy

Your satisfaction with your hearing aids is our highest priority, so we offer a free^ 14-day no-obligation trial. You can take the hearing aids home and try them for 14 days at no cost to you. Wear them in real-life situations like at the gym, in a café or while watching TV, to see how they fit into your everyday life. You can return them at any time before the 2 weeks are over, but generally, we recommend you stick to the 2 weeks to see how they work in your real-life environments and whether they’re suited to your lifestyle.

Feel confident with our 55-day money-back guarantee

After we fit your hearing aids, we’ll ask you to come back for a follow up appointment to discuss how you’re feeling about them. We’ll see if any adjustments are required, so that you can make the most out of your hearing aids. If for any reason you’re not completely satisfied with your new hearing aids, we offer a 55-day money-back guarantee which allows you to return your aids for a full refund (if you paid for them) or exchange them for a different device. Please note that whilst you can return your fully subsidised hearing aids, you won’t receive a refund for these upon return.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if I’m not eligible for the Voucher Scheme?

If you don’t qualify for the Voucher Scheme, you can still get a free 15-minute adult hearing check with us. You can also book for a comprehensive hearing assessment with one of our expert clinicians for a fee

How often can I get new hearing aids through the Voucher Scheme?

Under the Voucher Scheme, you may be eligible for a new pair of hearing aids every five years, or sooner if your hearing needs change significantly. Our clinicians can help you if you're experiencing difficulties with your current devices.

What type of hearing aids can I get that are fully subsidised?

Under the Voucher Scheme, eligible clients can receive hearing aids that are fully subsidised. These are modern digital hearing aids that meet everyday hearing needs. If you’d like a device with more advanced technology, such as greater comfort in noisy environments or more natural sound, partially subsidised hearing aids are also available for an additional (gap) fee.

Will I be pressured to upgrade or purchase more expensive devices?

Not at all. At Hearing Australia, we’re committed to helping you find the right hearing solution, whether that’s a pair of fully subsidised hearing aids, a partially subsidised one with more advanced technology, or a device you're funding yourself. You’ll receive clear, personalised advice and hearing aid recommendations tailored to your individual hearing needs, budget and lifestyle.

Can I use my hearing aids with my smartphone or TV?

Yes. We have fully subsidised and partially subsidised hearing aid models that can stream audio directly from compatible smartphones. These devices also work with optional accessories like TV streamers (sold separately), allowing you to enjoy TV at a comfortable volume without disturbing others in your household. Our clinicians can help you find the best option based on your lifestyle and technology preferences.

Will the hearing aids be visible or bulky?

Many modern hearing aids are compact and discreet, with many behind-the-ear (BTE), receiver-in-the-ear (RIE) and custom models designed to blend with your hair or skin tone. Our clinicians can help you find the best option based on your preferences.

What’s the difference between the free 15-minute adult hearing check and a comprehensive hearing assessment?

While a hearing check and a comprehensive hearing assessment both check your ears for hearing loss, they differ in a few ways:

Free 15-minute hearing check: This is a quick test of your hearing that gives a good indication that you may have hearing loss, but it’s not a full diagnosis.

Comprehensive hearing assessment: This is done at our hearing centres by one of our expert clinicians and can take around about 1 hour to complete. The assessment will confirm if you have hearing loss and can benefit from wearing hearing aids. In the assessment, our clinician will also discuss your lifestyle, your hearing needs and your budget. If a hearing aid is recommended, they’ll show a range of suitable devices for you based on your assessment. A comprehensive hearing assessment and other services may incur a fee if you’re not eligible for the Australian Government Hearing Services Program Voucher Scheme.

What if I already wear hearing aids from another clinic?

You can still access services through Hearing Australia. We’ll assess your current hearing needs and determine whether your existing devices are suitable or if you qualify for a new set of fully subsidised hearing aids under the Voucher Scheme.

Do I need a referral to access the Voucher Scheme?

A referral is not required to start your hearing journey with Hearing Australia. You can book directly with us for your free 15-minute adult hearing check or a comprehensive hearing assessment. A referral may be needed if you’re accessing the Voucher Scheme through a Disability Employment Service provider.

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

Absolutely. You’re welcome to bring a family member, carer, or friend to your appointment. In fact, having someone familiar with your daily communication can help us better understand your hearing needs and recommend the best solutions. Having a family member present is ideal because it allows you to have someone familiar to discuss your options with.

Are appointments available in regional or remote areas?

Yes. We operate in over 180 locations across Australia, including regional and remote communities. We also offer outreach services and telehealth audiology appointments for eligible clients in hard-to-reach areas.
