From client to clinician: Jorja’s journey comes full circle
Jorja Crane knows firsthand how life-changing the right hearing care can be—because she’s lived it. Diagnosed with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss at just six months old, Jorja began her journey with Hearing Australia as a young client. Today, she’s an audiologist with the same organisation that helped shape her path.
“It’s wonderful to see that Karen, one of my first audiologists, is still with Hearing Australia,” Jorja says. “I had the joy of reconnecting with her recently at Mt Gravatt—it really brought things full circle.”
Jorja’s decision to pursue audiology was inspired by the care she received growing up—particularly at the Robina centre on the Gold Coast. “Karen's kindness and dedication motivated me to follow this path. I genuinely wouldn’t be in my current position without my hearing aids, and I’m incredibly grateful to all my audiologists.”

In January 2025, Jorja joined Hearing Australia as a clinician—driven by her own experience and a strong desire to give back. “Having worn hearing aids throughout my life, I truly understand the difference they can make. My goal is to provide others with the same support and confidence I’ve received.”
A Personal Perspective on Hearing Aids
Over the years, Jorja has experienced the challenges of adjusting to new technology—but also the rewards. “Moving to rechargeable hearing aids was a big change for me,” she says, “but now I couldn’t imagine going back. The clarity, convenience, and performance improvements have been incredible.”
Her clinical work has only deepened her appreciation for the care audiologists provide. “What’s stood out the most is how committed our audiologists are to helping each client get the best possible outcome,” she adds. “It’s something I’m proud to be part of.”
Looking Ahead: The Power of Auracast™
As someone who’s both used and fitted hearing aids, Jorja is particularly excited about the potential of Auracast™—a new Bluetooth® broadcast technology designed to improve accessibility in public spaces.
“I really believe Auracast™ will be a game changer,” she says. “Imagine being able to clearly hear announcements at the train station, audio from the TV at a pub, or the dialogue in a cinema—directly through your hearing aids. It’s a huge step forward for inclusion.”
Although it’s still being rolled out across venues, Jorja is confident it will become a major part of future hearing care. “As more places start implementing Auracast™, it will dramatically improve everyday experiences for people with hearing loss.”
