Hearing Australia appoints new Managing Director

Hearing Australia Chair Elizabeth Crouch AM today announced the appointment of Mr Eron Plumb as Hearing Australia’s new Managing Director for a five-year term, commencing 1 September 2026.
Mr Plumb is an experienced Chief Executive and Managing Director with more than 35 years’ experience leading, scaling and transforming large customer-focused organisations across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.
Mr Plumb expressed his appreciation on being appointed Managing Director “I’m honoured to have the opportunity to lead Hearing Australia, an organisation with an extraordinary legacy and such an important role to play in helping Australians stay connected to the people, places and communities that matter most,” he said.
“Hearing Australia has such a clear purpose and I’m excited to have the opportunity to work with an experienced and dedicated team, building on the organisation’s strengths, and continuing to improve outcomes for our clients while supporting our next generation research.”
Mr Plumb brings a wealth of experience in commercial growth, operational leadership and organisational transformation, having held senior executive roles across health, retail and service-based organisations. Most recently, he was CEO and Managing Director of InvoCare, where he led the transformation of a diversified group operating across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. He also spent more than a decade as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Bay Audio Group, building one of Australia’s leading allied health retail and wholesale businesses.
“Eron’s deep experience in the hearing and allied health sectors and in leading large, customer-centred organisations, will add enormous value to Hearing Australia as it embarks on the next stage of its evolution,” said Ms Crouch. “His strong focus on people, performance and customer outcomes will be invaluable as Hearing Australia seeks to expand its impact and deliver high-quality services for Australians living with a hearing loss.
“Eron’s appointment comes at an important time for Hearing Australia as it continues to strengthen its services, expand its research impact and enhance its support for the children and adults we care for. He will lead Hearing Australia as we continue our purpose led work, build on our impressive record in delivering government-funded programs and reinforce our commitment to supporting world-class innovation and research through the National Acoustic Laboratories.”
Ms Crouch also paid tribute to retiring Managing Director Kim Terrell, thanking him for his outstanding leadership and contribution to Hearing Australia.
“Over the past eight and a half years, Kim has led Hearing Australia through a period of significant growth, innovation and organisational renewal. He strengthened the organisation's strategic direction, culture and financial performance while maintaining an unwavering focus on improving hearing outcomes for Australians. His leadership has left the organisation financially strong, operationally resilient and well positioned for the future while remaining true to its social purpose of supporting Australians with hearing loss,” said Ms Crouch.
“Kim has led the organisation with integrity, diligence and commitment, striving to improve the policy environment that we work within and always with a view to delivering better outcomes for our clients and communities. He will be greatly missed by our team and we’re grateful for his significant contribution and service and wish him the very best for the future.”
Hearing Australia is one of Australia’s largest providers of hearing health services, supporting more than 260,000 children and adults each year, including First Nations peoples, pensioners and veterans.
